Why We Do What We Do
It started with a simple realization perfectly good items were being discarded simply because major retailers had no use for them anymore. Brand new products, still in packaging, with so much life left to give, destined for landfills instead of homes. In 2022, this young entrepreneur turned her vision into reality when she opened Emerald Isle in Sullivan, IL. With the unwavering support of her Husband and Parents who believed in her dream, Darlene created something special a general merchandise resale store built on the idea that every item has value. Emerald Isle buys overstock, returns, and damaged merchandise from brand name stores like Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc. We sort through and inspect each item, and prepare it for display. What big-box stores have moved past, we see as treasure waiting for the right home. For us, there’s genuine joy in the hunt. Every box we open is a surprise. And when you walk out with something you need at a highly discounted price, we know we’ve done more than make a sale, we’ve kept something out of the waste stream and brought a smile to your day. Our mission is simple: provide the community with a quality shopping experience where great finds meet great prices. This isn’t just retail, it’s about giving items new purpose and giving you reasons to smile.

We're The Millers
We’ve been married for two years and purchased a home in Sullivan, which we’ve been remodeling together. My husband works in construction, so he brings his skills home to help us tackle projects. Outside of work, We love spending time with friends and family, I enjoy decorating and trying new recipes in the kitchen. My husband is a sports fan and enjoys golfing whenever he can. We have a mini goldendoodle who keeps us on our toes, and we love traveling together and exploring new places.
